Close to 25,000 Left Without Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Storms
Approximately 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast found themselves lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems passed over the state, generating wind gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Hailstones and Extensive Damage
Residents observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Storm Challenges
Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 residents in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after Melbourne recorded its most precipitation in 18 months.
State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 calls for help across the region, primarily for property damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

- Hoppers Crossing suburb - multiple assistance requests
- Wyndham area - nearly 180 emergency requests
At one point on the previous day, in excess of twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were lacking electricity.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing thunderstorm potential predicted across different parts of both regions.
Safety Concern
Public health experts alerted that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
This warning comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
